Coastguard stops search for man who jumped from ship

The search for an illegal immigrant who jumped from a ship yesterday evening has been stood down, according to reports.

Chemical tanker rescue crew of yacht 300 miles off Spain

Falmouth Coastguard co-ordinated the rescue of the crew of yacht OCTAGON last night, after it lost its steering and began to take on water 300 miles north west of Spain. The yacht was travelling from the Azores to the UK.

Captain calamity rescued twice in two days


A lone sailor who was rescued south of Mumbles, Swansea, yesterday with no power and almost no safety equipment on board has just been rescued again after setting out for the second time and once again losing engine power, this time off nearby Rhoose Point.

Fisherman rescued after vessel sinks

A fisherman was rescued by Ballycotton lifeboat after his vessel sank.

The man’s family got worried when he failed to return to harbour at 11.30pm on 9 April. Attempts were made to contact him by radio and phone, to no avail.
